Parent testimonial (Year 11 leaver 2011)

Brymore has been the perfect place for my son..Having struggled with his literacy for many years I sought a school for him where I believed – first and foremost- that he would be happy and fulfilled (and quietly hoped that this happiness might reflect on his academic work). This has indeed been the case – far beyond my greatest dreams! Not only has he thrived and matured into a fine, confident, young man but he has achieved academically to a degree I could never have thought possible! The combination of physical, practical and creative work alongside the academic; the high expectations of behavior and responsibility; the caring, ’family’, nature of this small school and the sense that what is being taught is entirely ‘relevant’ and applicable to today’s society (the appreciation of where our food comes from, looking after the land and being practical and resourceful) all make this a wonderful education for these boys and helps to nurture them into fine young men.  Not formerly an advocate of single-sex schools, I have grown to appreciate that this too is of great value for the developement of these boys at this age – allowing them the space to mature and find their feet as men, without competition or the need to show off to attract their female peers. Boys who attend Brymore, are lucky boys! I am so pleased my son has had this experience. It will remain with him for his life, I have no doubt, and he has much to offer society as a result of this experience.

The boys at Brymore are the warmest, most ‘open’ and sociable group of young men I have ever had the pleasure to meet. They are, without doubt, the greatest advocates of the school. Overall they are friendly, polite, responsible and ready to talk and quick to express how good Brymore has been for them. Brymore provides exactly what young developing men of this age require – including the space to develop without the pressure of attracting female peers – and it is a great experience for them.
