Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to Brymore Academy.

I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you as the Headteacher of Brymore Academy, a dedicated and inspiring educational setting for your child.  If you have not already done so, I would urge you to come and visit us so that you can see what makes Brymore such a special place; the boys themselves!

Academically, we are consistently placed in the top 5% of schools nationally for student progress which is testament to excellent teaching, individualised support and our unique practical curriculum, which makes the most of our facilities and emphasis on traditional values.

At Brymore we place huge importance on our 3R’s: Responsibility, Resilience and Resourcefulness.  We develop these by expecting our students to support the running of the school, through early morning and evening farm duties, maintenance of our flower beds, borders and grounds, as well as assisting in key events throughout the academic year. ‘Diligentia et labore’ or labour with diligence sums up the Brymore way.  Manners, respect for each other and hard work embody the traditional values that we look to develop in all our students so that they are well prepared for life beyond Brymore when they leave us.  Alongside this, a broad and rich curriculum, as well as an extensive range of extra-curricular activities provide an ‘experience to last a lifetime.’

We are one of only 30 state boarding schools, where boarding fees are relatively modest and education is free.  All our boarding accommodation is either recently built or refurbished providing a comfortable home from home, supported by our dedicated boarding team. Students benefit from our 110-acre farm and extensive horticulture facilities including a one acre walled garden, where each student can have their own plot, excellent workshop facilities, and an outdoor swimming pool, teaching block, gym and a mountain bike track all set in 15 acres of countryside bordering the Quantock Hills.

We believe in the importance of a partnership between home and school. At Brymore we actively encourage parental involvement in your child’s education.  Your support in our educational, social and fundraising activities is invaluable, and we look forward to embarking on your child’s next stage of education together.

I would encourage you to visit the school and experience our students and staff in action.

Thank you for your interest in our school and I look forward to welcoming you to Brymore.
