Admissions
Boys are admitted to the School in the September of each academic year. Normally boys will be over 11 but under 12 years of age on 1st September of the year in which they enter the School (Year 7). Applications must be made to Brymore AND Somerset Local Authority before 31st October in the year before entry if boys are to be considered in the first round of applications. We are over-subscribed in many of our year groups so if you wish to apply we suggest you call our Admissions Secretary to ensure we can secure you a place.
Interviews take place throughout the year, however the majority of applications are received in the Autumn term for the following academic year. We do take boys throughout the year but we are over-subscribed however, occasionally spaces do arise so do not hesitate to call us to discuss changing mid-term.
If there is a place available, in special cases, a boy may be considered for entry into Year 10. It must be noted however, that Brymore has a unique curriculum, and if it is left too late then often there is too much for a student to catch up as they may not have studied the courses we offer at their previous school.
Candidates are offered places on an assessment of their ‘ suitability for boarding’ and their aptitude for the unique curriculum Brymore offers. Evidence is gathered from a boy’s previous school, an application form, a questionnaire and further student information. Candidates and their parents are then expected to attend an interview with the Headteacher and perhaps a school governor, at the school, to substantiate their suitability for a place.
The cost of boarding per year from September 2024 will be £12,345 (weekly boarder) and £13,380 (full time boarder) inclusive which can be paid in full or spread throughout the year.
Boys resident throughout the United Kingdom are eligible for entry. Parents who wish their son to be considered for entry to Brymore should contact the School. The full admissions policy is available from the school by phoning 01278 652369.
