World Book Day is here and we've been celebrating in loads of creative ways. Our amazing English department have created a whole day of book-related activities, from quizzes and fancy dress competitions, as well as a carefully curated Masked Reader competition!
As always the outfits were amazing, ranging from dragons to drag, Vikings to viscounts!
The boys were dressing up for charity, with money going to the very worthy charity 'Read for Good', which proactively encourages children to read for pleasure.

We were delighted to receive a visit from members of the Bath and West of England Society. For many years the society has supported Brymore boys, providing grants to help with boarding fees, as well as working in partnership on projects such as Field to Food Learning Days where our older boys, who are Horticulture Heads of Department, lead workshops for primary school pupils.
We are extremely grateful for the Society's continued support and for taking the time to visit us when they enjoyed a tour of the school from some of the boys who the Society supports.

Say 'Cheese'!
Brymore Academy are so grateful to Barber's Farmhouse Cheese for their very generous donation of aprons and cheese to be used to support the new weekly cookery sessions.
Today the students made Savoury Cheese tarts, which smelled divine and were very popular!
The school enjoys a very close and productive relationship with Barber's with milk produced on our farm being used by Barber's to make their cheese
The boys are really growing in confidence with their cooking and are certainly enjoying the perks at the end of the sessions when the proof is in the tasting!

Congratulations to Year 11 Aaron B who recently broke the school Chad Hill record, beating W Jarman's nine year record, set way back in 2017.
Aaron's time of 9mins 47secs is excellent for the 3000m.
Here he is (far right) with his Brymore teammates at the recent Somerset County Cross Country Trials.
A great achievement, well done Aaron.

The incessant rain this winter couldn't interrupt the County Cup indoor cricket competition. All our teams have performed really well:
The Year 9/10 squad ended their run in the semi-finals yesterday, having travelled to Churchill Academy and losing to two very strong teams in Castle and Bishop Fox's.
The Year 7/8 team also got to the semis but sadly narrowly missed out on a spot in the final.

Brymore is all about teaching boys practical and vocational skills and our campus is ideal for this. Last weekend some of the boarders got behind the wheel of a car, under the watchful eye of school parent and FOBSA member, Vicky Wilkins, to learn the basics of starting, stopping(!) and controlling a car. From building confidence to fostering a love of nature, Forest School offers an ideal balance of creativity and learning with no two sessions ever the same!
The term the boys have enjoyed a rich mix of hands-on, woodland activities. These have included cooking over a fire, sawing and creating wood art, planting trees during National Tree Week, discovering more about wildlife habitats, whittling and learning about knife safety.

A polite reminder that school finishes for students at 2:00pm on Friday 13th February.
Please note, there will be no access to the site for parents before 2:00pm. The Boarding Houses will be open until 2.30pm for boarders to collect belongings.
The Year 9 Parent Consultations will be held from 2:30pm - 5:30pm in the teaching block.
We politely remind you to adopt the one-way system when driving through the site.

The Year 7 boys have taken a break from their plots and been busy exploring the botanical glasshouses in the Walled Gardens of Cannington. They have been learning about the differences in care and maintenance between the arid, rainforest and temperate zones whilst seeing the propagation areas used by the post 16 students at Cannington College.

A heart warming and fantastic achievement from Austin in Year 7 who cycled 50 (wet and windy) miles on Saturday. Austin did this on behalf of his boarding house to help raise funds for their chosen house charity, RABI, who help to provide local, professional support to the farming community.
A wonderful effort Austin - we are really proud of you!!

Today the eligible 50 boys (nearly a third of all boys in Key Stage 3) enjoyed the delights of a film of their choice to reward them for achieving over 50% of their individual Accelerated Reader percentage. They have worked tirelessly throughout the Autumn term to exceed the expected 40% and as such have had a film of their choice, along with a nice snack and a drink to reward them for their efforts. Year 7 opted for ‘Wicked for Good’, Year 8 opted for ‘Jurassic Park Dominion’ and Year 9 watched ‘F1 the Movie’. They would like to thank Ms Hoogenboom for lending us the common room and Mr Reed for his technical support. The boys had an amazing time and are now committed to the next event where they have to achieve 150% of their target by pushing themselves to succeed. Well done boys!
