Students and staff were scattered in all directions yesterday as Activity Day included trips to Bristol, Warwick, Cardiff and London. Despite the very warm weather, everyone enjoyed seeing some of the UK's best landmarks and attractions and even managed to find time to dress up in historical dress. Our own Mr Warby quite fancied dressing up as a knight!
Thank you to all the staff who accompanied the boys as well as those who organised all the complex logistics.

Bridgwater's Green Future was a programme that thirteen Year 9 student were invited to take part in. It started looking at the new Agratas battery factory being built near Puriton and associated Green careers that are arriving in Bridgwater in the future.
On Monday we completed grassland and habitat surveys of the school site and used GIS mapping tools to plot the data onto an online system that links to a national research database for studying ecosystems in school. This was followed with planning some enrichment clubs around outreach, biodiversity and mapping activities that could take place in school.

It's been a really busy term in DT and the boys have shown some great creativity and skill.
Firstly, the Year 7s have finished their project making bird boxes using recycled materials. Students had to research what birds live locally and design and make their own bird box. Students then had to source their own reclaimed materials (using pallets etc.) to think about the '6Rs of Sustainability'.
And it looks like they've done a pretty good job with these fabulous creations.

Wow, well done to our amazing library team! As a result of the @scholastic_uk Book Fair that was running over the last two weeks, we made an impressive £322.12. From this, the school receives 25% back in vouchers which will be used to buy new books to enhance our already impressive range on offer in the library.
Reading is one of life's great pleasures and our amazing librarian works so hard to ensure our boys have a wide range of books and magazines to enjoy and grow their love of reading.

Congratulations to our Bronze @dukeofedinburgh_award who completed their trek yesterday in the early evening. Despite a few deviations from the map, they all did really well and were able to take in some of Somerset's stunning coastline in the process.

It's all go at Brymore this week! The day after the Year 9 Quantock trip, the Bronze @dukeofedinburgh_award team started their trek which is remotely supervised. After weeks of training in navigation, camp craft, cooking, first aid and countryside code, the team set off and will be returning to school later today.
We're hoping to catch them as they arrive back but, for now, we hope they're having an amazing time, enjoying the countryside and learning how to work together as a team.

The weather was perfect this week for the annual Year 9 Quantock walk - not too hot, not too wet. The boys walked in groups, following their maps along a pre-arranged route, finishing at the spookily named 'Dead Woman's Ditch'.
Many thanks to the staff who accompanied the boys and for Mr Lines and Mr Orr for their organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to get out into the stunning Quantock countryside and practice their map-reading skills.

As part of our drive to encourage our boys and wider Brymore family to enjoy reading, our Scholastic Book Fair has been running this week and will continue until Monday 6th July. If you wish to get any books or gifts for yourself or younger relatives, please pop into Brymore Library.
And it's not just books for young people - we also have a selection of popular young adult romance and fantasy, as well as the classics. In addition, there are items like stationery and notebooks. So, why not do your Christmas shopping early?
Everything is on offer at very competitive prices compared to retail, and buying from the Book Fair helps us earn vouchers from Scholastic that we can then spend on our library stock.

Our boys performed brilliantly in the livestock showing at Open Day and their animals looked in peek condition.

Over the weekend four Brymore Boys represented Somerset Athletics. On Saturday Aaron B and Milo Mead started two days of competing in the Inter Boys Octathlon.
Meanwhile, McKinley S competed in the Junior Boys Pentathlon doing extremely well to finish in 5th - the highest finishing Somerset Athlete. Also on Saturday, Xavi C competed in the Junior Boys 2000m Race Walk. Despite a 30 seconds penalty, he finished as South West Champion and will hopefully qualify for the English School National Final in late September.
The stars of the weekend were Aaron and Milo, the only Somerset Athletes left in the Inter Boys event due to illness and injury. Not only did they battle against some highly ranked individual athletes from Devon and Avon, but they were also up against athletes who had the support of their four-man teams.
They stuck together, supporting each other and finished the event with heads held high. Milo M finished 9th overall Aaron B 10th overall, meaning they were the first and second placed Somerset athletes.
Highlights were Aaron's win in the final event, the 1500m and Milo's sub 5mins in the same event. True Brymore Boys performing their best at the end of two long days.
We wish out going Yr 11Aaron B the best of luck and hope he continues his Athletics & Cross Country journey at Richard Huish.

We are celebrating South West Schools Athletics Success!
Last Saturday, four Brymore boys proudly represented Somerset at the South West Schools Athletics Championships, having qualified the previous weekend.
A special congratulations to Year 9 student Toby G, who competed in both the Shot and Hammer. Despite a challenging day in the Hammer, Toby showed great resilience and should be incredibly proud of his performance. His hard work paid off in the Shot, where he produced an outstanding performance to claim Silver Medal position and has now put himself in contention for selection to the English Schools Championships in July.
Also representing Somerset were Head Boy Matty B, Senior Prefect Lewis M, and Assistant Head Boy Jack T. These three epitomise what it means to be a True Brymore Boy—giving up a second consecutive weekend to compete at the highest level while balancing senior leadership responsibilities, farm duties as Hods, and unwavering commitment to their Houses and school life.
Their results were equally impressive:
Matty B – Bronze Medal in the Inter Boys Hammer
Jack T – 6th place in a highly competitive 300m Hurdles race
Lewis M – 7th place in the same exceptionally fast event
We are incredibly proud of all four boys. They have embraced every opportunity Brymore has to offer and continue to represent both the school and Somerset with distinction, commitment and pride.

Students will be running hands-on activities on our Forest School stand at Open Day this Saturday, encouraging creativity and exploration. There will also be items on sale that the students have made during their Forest School sessions, offering a taster of how the students have immersed themselves in nature whilst developing crucial life skills.

There is so much to do at this year's Open Day, for all the family. In the main ring, we have our boys showing their sheep and cattle, the dog and duck display, Shetland pony racing and the heavy horses parade.

Following careful consideration and in consultation with Bridgwater and Taunton College Trust, we have taken the decision to close the school on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June due to the Red Weather Warning for extreme heat issued by the Met Office. Emails have been sent to all parents with details of pick up timings.
Please be aware that normal school will resume on Friday 26th June, from 8.15am, as usual, and our Open Day will run as planned on Saturday 27th June.
