Year 12 and beyond

We work with our boys to ensure they know what options are open to them once they leave Brymore at the end of Year 11.

At Brymore we encourage boys to progress onto further education courses or apprenticeships as a way to continue the learning they receive with us and to expand their knowledge. We offer a wide range of support to our boys with their next steps and take them to taster workshops, encourage them to attend open days and actively assist with college applications. We work closely with our academy partner, Bridgwater and Taunton College, to ensure a smooth transition to their courses and, sometimes, their student accommodation facilities should our boys choose that as their preferred college option.

About Bridgwater and Taunton College

Bridgwater & Taunton College is an exceptionally successful provider of education. Offering a range qualifications across three campuses; Taunton, Bridgwater and Cannington. Courses combine real-world experience with academic rigour, which springboard students to Red Brick universities, prestigious companies and exciting careers.

The belief that everyone has the ability to achieve sits at the heart of the College’s ethos. This belief shapes the teaching and learning and is the guiding principle that drives staff and students to be the best they can be, by challenging them to achieve more every day and preparing students for whichever path they choose. This approach is called the Bridgwater & Taunton College Advantage and is embedded across the College from sports, performance and honours academies through to tutorials.

The College prides itself on excellent practices which directly benefit students, for example, at the Cannington campus, the College farm’s contract with Tesco was rated in the top 5% of farms within the Tesco Sustainable Dairy Group, and the new National College for Nuclear opened in order to train a skilled and relevant workforce for this growing industry.

The first Ofsted rating since Bridgwater College and Somerset College merged in 2016 recognised five key areas as Outstanding in five key areas and leaders were congratulated for how well the merger was managed and the clear vision, common culture and strong ethos across all College campuses. The College has won a slew of awards including the TES Apprenticeship Programme of the Year, a SEMTA Skills award, but its proudest achievement in recent years is the award of a highly prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education.
