Old boys meet new Year 7

The surviving first three years of Brymore boys returned to the school this week, along with the first ever Deputy Head, to meet the inaugural group of Year 7 boys. Alan Hemming who is now 94 was Deputy Head from the opening in 1952 and stayed in post for 30 years. Positive research results
The State Boarding Schools Association undertook a large scale research project with the UK State Boarding School parents recently. The results confirmed what we, at Brymore, already know and that is that most parents believe we can offer high academic quality, the chance for children to fulfil their potential and good value according to a new independent survey. Successful Open Day
Brymore held it’s annual Open Day and Country Fair on Saturday 28 June to a few heavy rain showers but bookended by glorious sunshine and high spirits. With over 3000 people entering the gates to see duck herding dogs, stock showing by our boys, children’s entertainment and the opportunity to see teachers and the Head it was a busy day at the school. Olympian at Brymore
We have been delighted to welcome Olympian and Commonwealth pistol shooting medallist Georgina Geike to Brymore. Georgina gave a talk to the boys about her journey to becoming an Olympian and how she is firmly setting her sights on the Rio Olympics in 2016 where she is chasing a medal. Ski trip report
Twenty three boys, Mr and Mrs Ball and Mr Ashton departed from Gatwick for the Italian mountains in Bormio at the start of the Christmas holidays, looking forward to the annual Brymore ski trip. Best GCSE results yet!
Year 11 Brymore students have excelled in this year’s results, achieving well beyond predictions and smashing previous school records. 88% of students gained 5A*-Cs, with the capped point score likely to place the school in the top 3% of schools nationally, for the second year in a row. Brymore School is one of the star attractions of popular television series – Salvage Hunters, with the episode airing on Monday 11th March at 9pm on Quest and being repeated on Thursday 14th March. Year 9 visit the theatre
The Year 9’s paid a visit to the Ambassador Theatre in Woking on March 6th to see the moving production, based on the book, of Goodnight Mr Tom. The story follows a young boy unhappy at home, William, who is evacuated during the second world war into the care of recluse Mr Tom where they enjoy a happy and loving friendship. Boost for bike trail
Brymore School has recently received a grant to help develop a bike trail, purchase equipment and start a cycling club. Sport England, the national body set-up to encourage sport participation within the UK, has awarded £10,000 to the school for this cycling initiative and in doing so has already encouraged boys to start the sport.
