Kayaking completed
A number of our boys completed a BCU Kayak Star 1 award following two weeks of practical and theory and one week of assessments over three Sundays. It was not a result that any of us wanted or had hoped for, as the Brymore rugby team were defeated 15-5 in the final to Haygrove, however it was a match filled with heroic battles, courageous boys and a team effort to rival many a national squad. Horticulture plant sale
On Thursday 28th March from 2pm-4pm our Horticulture department will be holding a plant sale. There will be a good variety of different plants on offer along with apple juice and cider vinegar at very reasonable prices so please come along to the gardens and have a look!
Brymore on the TV
Brymore School is one of the star attractions of popular television series – Salvage Hunters, with the episode airing on Monday 11th March at 9pm on Quest and being repeated on Thursday 14th March. Salvage Hunters has claimed a worldwide audience since its launch in 2011 and Drew Pritchard, the modern-day salvage hunter looking out for loot, is back with a new series and one which visits Brymore. Year 9 visit the theatre
The Year 9’s paid a visit to the Ambassador Theatre in Woking on March 6th to see the moving production, based on the book, of Goodnight Mr Tom. The story follows a young boy unhappy at home, William, who is evacuated during the second world war into the care of recluse Mr Tom where they enjoy a happy and loving friendship. Paper aeroplane challenge
Brymore School held its annual paper aeroplane challenge on the final full day of the half term to cheers from the crowd. With a large number of contestants and three main prizes up for grabs this was one contest nobody wanted to avoid. Boost for bike trail
Brymore School has recently received a grant to help develop a bike trail, purchase equipment and start a cycling club. Sport England, the national body set-up to encourage sport participation within the UK, has awarded £10,000 to the school for this cycling initiative and in doing so has already encouraged boys to start the sport. Hinkley visit for Brymore
Brymore School were given a flavour of the future of nuclear power on their doorstep after a recent visit to the Hinkley Point Power Station. Donated Bulbs Planted
Brymore School’s Horticulture department have very kindly been donated hundreds of bulbs from a local Garden Centre. Cheddar Garden Centre contacted the school recently to see if we could utilise their excess tulip bulbs and with a resounding ‘yes’ we have now planted nearly all of the selection around the school site. Piglets for Sale
