COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update

We are following all the government guidance as it comes out and will communicate with parents through the MyEd app and via text messages.

The government has stipulated that schools should test all their consenting students for Covid-19 using lateral flow tests before they return after the summer holidays.
As you are aware there are two INSET days this September on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th.

We would like outboarders to come in on the afternoon of Monday 6th September to be tested and then go home again before they start school on Wednesday 8th September. Boarders will be tested on arrival on the afternoon of Tuesday 7th September before they go to their boarding houses.

We will send more comprehensive plans at a later date, these will include time slots for each year group, but in the meantime please add these days to your calendar. It will be really helpful logistically if as many outboarders as possible can come to be tested on Monday 6th as all students have to have a second test in school 3 days after the first and this will therefore allow us to get all the testing done in the first week. After that home testing commences again.

We appreciate your continued support to keep Brymore Covid free.

Thank you
Brymore

Please see here for information on the management of COVID-19 in school age children as it is vital that you do not send your child to school if they have any of the following symptoms and follow the guidance in the management document and call 119 for further advice:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

At the end of December new information on returning to school in 2021 was announced and the letter from Mr Thomas explaining what will happen at Brymore can be located here.

On October 31st the government announced further measures and an update from Mr Thomas on 5th November can be viewed here and the 4th November can be seen here

We have updated our guidance around boarding should we get a case or symptoms within a ‘household’ the letters outlining this can be found here and here.

We have set up a new ONLINE LEARNING page in the unfortunate event that a year group needs to be sent home or that the school closes; please can parents look at this should this be the case.
